Perfume Intensity: More than just the amount of perfume oil.

The intensity of a perfume depends on various factors, not just the concentration of the perfume oil used. The use of different fragrances has a significant influence on the intensity and durability of the fragrance. For example, a strong synthetic fragrance like vanillin has a longer shelf life than a natural fragrance like lemon oil. A balanced composition of natural and synthetic fragrances is therefore of great importance in order to create the desired fragrance.

In addition to the fragrances used, the concentration of the perfume oil also influences the intensity and durability of the fragrance. A higher concentration usually means a more intense scent and a longer shelf life on the skin. However, it is important to consider the composition of the perfume in order to achieve the desired scent. For example, too high a percentage of perfume oil can completely miss a fresh scent in a 20% Extrait de Parfum blend. In this case, it is advisable to use an eau de toilette mixture and to refresh the fragrance at irregular intervals.

The different categories of perfumes, such as eau fraiche, eau de cologne, eau de toilette, eau de parfum and extrait de parfum, therefore differ not only in the concentration of the perfume oil, but also in the composition of the fragrances and thus in the intensity and durability of the scent.

It is important to note that the choice of fragrance composition and concentration is an individual and personal experience that depends on individual preferences. Terms such as eau de parfum are not protected and can be used arbitrarily. However, the current trend is unfortunately towards more and more mixtures instead of reflecting on the composition of the perfume, which actually makes the perfume.
